Interview With a Company

A company reaction to a submitted candidate's CV usually comes in about 1 month after the date of submission. Sometimes the waiting is longer, sometimes - shorter. After the feedback is received, we arrange interviews with chosen candidates and send a refusal letter to the rejected ones, where we explain the reason of the rejection if it had been provided.

The first interview with a company is conducted by telephone in most cases. There can be not too many technical questions at it. Depending on the company recruitment policy, the interview/s can be run by:

  • department manager
  • leading engineer / engineer
  • HR manager

Technical questions are mostly asked during the second interview. A crossbreed of the first and second is when an HR runs it (technical questions are there but they are not very in-depth).

Different companies practice different interview patterns:

  1. Non-technical interview by phone ->Technical interview by phone -> Contract.
  2. Non-technical interview by phone ->Technical interview by phone -> - Another technical interview by phone > Contract.
  3. Non-technical interview by phone ->Technical interview by phone -> Another technical interview in Ireland at the company -> Contract.
  4. Combined (acquaintance and technical interview) -> Another technical interview in Ireland at the company -> Contract.

There are far more than four combinations but we are not going to abuse your attention. Contract in this list is the logical process completion. Certainly, not always candidates achieve success from the first time, some have go through interviews with a number of companies before they succeed.
We assist in interviews preparation in Ireland (tickets reservations, providing consultancy for the candidates). Interview in Ireland usually means a home straight for us. The odds to get a job after it are 8 out of 10. At this interview a candidate is shown around the company, s/he gets acquainted with tasks and the development process, speaks to his future bosses. The cost of travel and stay in Ireland are fully covered by the employer no matter what the result of the interview. All of the expenditure is refunded on arrival to the company at the HR Department, except for the flight money, as the tickets are booked by the company in advance on obtaining an interview visa.

It takes from 3 to 5 days to go to Ireland for an interview and come back. Usually all our clients leave for Ireland on Thursday and return on Sunday. Our agency keeps in touch with the candidate during the time of an interview abroad: in СIS the Ukrainian office does it, in Ireland - by the Irish one. A client can get a consultation on any question (problem), arising during the travel . Here is an example of such correspondence (often similar conversations are held over telephone), which is conducted between Interconsulting and its clients in the process of departure preparation (note: candidate's name, E-mail and the numbers of mobile telephones have been changed)

Hello Sasha,

I will do my best to answer your questions comprehensively.

1. The first thing for you to do in Moscow will be to collect your visa at the Embassy. Address: Grokholsky side-street 5, Embassy of Ireland, the Consular Department. I cannot tell you where exactly this is as I've never been there. You should try to find out beforehand. If you can't - let us know, we'll clear this up (it was somewhere on the Internet, on www.ireland.ru, I believe). You should have your internal passport with you and name your visa application reference number - 949478.
2. After this you will need to pick up the tickets at the ticket desk of British Airways (in Sheremetjevo). Arrive there a bit earlier, because the flight is from Sheremetjevo 2, and the desk is in Sheremetjevo 1. You can try to get an exact reference about the BA ticket desk while in the embassy, though success is not guaranteed. To get your ticket you will need to have (just in case) your international passport with the visa, but in principle - the ticket reservation reference code is enough. The code is as follows: RZВIWZ.

Your flight details are below one more time:

1.1LOTVINOV/ALEXANDERMR
> 1. BA 873 M 22MAR SVOLHR HK1 1745 1855 O TH
> 2. BA 5979 C 22MAR LHRDUB HK1 2045 2155 O TH
> 3. BA 5956 C 25MAR DUBLHR HK1 0825 0945 O SU
> 4. BA 874 M 25MAR LHRSVO HK1 1335 2020 O SU

It is necessary to to check in for your flight (both ways) not later than one hour before the departure. Two hours will do better - there is a customs control.
If there are whatever problems, get in touch with us immediately at the contact details which follows. Contact us while in Russia, and our Irish office - when in Britain or in Ireland. Dial the office telephone numbers first. If the lines are busy or there is no one answering call to the mobile. If you cannot connect with the corresponding country office - call the other one, we will then decide how to proceed. But do not take any chances - if there is a problem and you see no solution, phone at once.

>>How much money do I need to bring?
$150 will be enough, a hundred is exactly enough, but it's better to be on the safe side here for problem allowance. You will land in Dublin and the interview is in Dublin too. You will have a free day on Sunday to see the city. Try to stay out of trouble and be demanding in the hotel:
('Ashfield', Clonskeagh Rd, Dublin 14. The owner's name is Olive and her number is 260 3680. It is about a ten mins walk from our office. The interview will take place in our Clonskeagh office at 9.30am on Friday 23rd, and he can ask for Sinbad or Declan Staunton when he arrives. We will have someone waiting for him at the airport.).
Ask for some supper, then breakfast, ask to wake you up etc. Generally, you understand - this is their business to make you feel at home.

>>Where can I change dollars to punts?
The best place is the airport. But try to first meet the person that will be meeting you, and he can help you about that no problem. By the way, in case of any problems during your transfer in London, find a first person in BA uniform and ask for directions or whatever other necessary assistance.

>>What expenses should I ask to refund - only the tickets and visa, or also the daily allowance?
Include all of your related expenses, but make sure that they do not forget to actually give you the money. Do this before leaving company after the interview.

Also have a hardcopy of this letter together with the other documents. Also bring your diploma and certificates if there are any (although you haven't got any, as far as I remember).

That's all. Should you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask them.

Regards,
Valera.

This guidance is not comprehensive yet - it is impossible to foresee all, which can happen to candidate on the way to getting a new job. There have been true stories, worth of becoming thriller plots. For example, a law-obedient citizen got nearly arrested by immigration control officers only because there was no mark about transfer in London on his boarding pass. Thanks to a joint candidate rescue operation of the Irish and Ukrainian offices the candidate was set free and was on the plane on time. We work to help a candidate overcome obstacles and barriers and achieve his goal in a job search - this is our key mission. The interview part of the process is of great importance so make sure to read through the hints on how to take an interview.
